Why be a member of a friend of the Museum

Members and friends

  • contribute to the ongoing protection of one of the most significant anthropological and cultural sites in Australia.

As a member or friend, you support the museums focused cultural conservation, research and education programs that bring its mission and purpose to life.

Members and friend receive

  • unlimited entry to the museum, kids programs and exhibitions together with discounted access to school holiday programs, workshops and guided cultural experiences
  • 1 FREE  guest pass per year to share with family and friends and 20% off for up to four people if tours are pre-booked.=
  • invitations and discounts to member-only and friends-only events and functions (Members can attend Friends events and functions)
  • 10% discount on marked items at the museum store and cafe
  • reciprocal Benefits at other museums and cultural locations
  • regular emails advising upcoming events or opertunities
  • a 10% discount on venue hire.

Eligibility to be a member

A member must be:

  • at least 18 years old and
  • an Aboriginal who is accepted by a majority of Directors of the Brewarrina Abouriginal Corperation as having sufficient connection with the local Ngemba, Ualarai, Murriwarri, Kimilaroi, Baranbinja, Koama, Weliwan, Kula or Baarkinji people.
  • Aattend, speak and vote at general meetings.


In addition to the benefits of being a member, a member can:

  • look at the members’ register (free of charge)
  • look at the minutes of general meetings and AGMs (free of charge)
  • look at the rule book or get a copy (free of charge)
  • raise a dispute and have a dispute dealt with by the organisation.
    AND
    • be made a director (if the member is eligible to be a director) and vacancy exists
    • put forward resolutions at general meetings
    • ask the directors to call a general meeting
    • look at the books of the corporation if the directors have authorised it or the members pass a resolution at a members’ meeting which approves it.

    Eligibility to become a friend (Associate Member)

    An associate member (friend) must be:

    • at least 18 years old 
    • An Australian citizen
    • Pay the annual membership fee in advance.

    In addition to the benefits of being a Friend listed above, an associate member can:

    • attend and speak at general meetings
    • look at the members’ register (free of charge)
    • look at the minutes of general meetings and AGMs (free of charge)
    • look at the rule book or get a copy (free of charge)
    • raise a dispute and have a dispute dealt with by the organisation.
